The ” Green Discovery Development Sustainability Association,” initiated by 34 partners who are highly passionate about net zero sustainability, held its first membership meeting on April 13th at Yuanlin, Changhua. Representatives from various sectors, including Tianfu Lin, Deputy Magistrate of Changhua County, Yingqing Chen, Deputy Secretary-General of the Changhua County Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Association, and Boji Weng, Chairman of the Huaxia Aviation Industry Development Association, attended the meeting to provide guidance and encouragement. During the meeting, various levels of executives were successfully elected, with Pincheng Lai, the current Sustainable Economic Group Leader of the Changhua County Government Youth Advisory Committee and Vice President of the International Youth Chamber of Commerce of Yuanlin, being elected as the inaugural chairman.
“Global sustainable development is a shared mission, and Taiwan has been actively responsed to take action, but there are still many challenges,” Pincheng Lai said. “With this in mind, we hope that the establishment of the association can bring about correct information and perspectives.” Lai emphasized that while the founding members of the Green Discovery Development Sustainability Association come from various sectors of industries, they are all partners with shared aspirations and proactive attitudes. The association will actively promote carbon neutrality actions with a professional attitude, assisting businesses in achieving environmental sustainability and creating a better living environment for future generations.
Tianfu Lin, Deputy Magistrate of Changhua County, who witnessed this historic moment, conveyed blessings on behalf of Huimei Wang, Magistrate of Changhua County. Deputy Magistrate Lin not only expressed support for the association’s promotion of sustainable actions with Changhua County as its base but also looked forward to the young members of the association actively taking up responsibilities and making substantive contributions to the sustainable development of Changhua and even Taiwan.
To achieve its goals, the Carbon Neutral Sustainable Development Association has specially invited experts and leaders from various sectors, including Jianfeng Chang, General Secretary of the Changhua County Farmers’ Association; Shijie Tsai, Mayor of Erlin Township; Baoling Wang, Mayor of Fangyuan Township; Guobao Huang, Sustainability Director of TUV NORD; Yingjie Lin, Senior Strategy Consultant of ESG of the United Nations Sustainable Development; Huangzhi Lu, Consultant of the Offshore Wind Power Research and Development Center at Feng Chia University; Weiqi Lai, Deputy Manager of the Precision Machinery Research and Development Center; Fei Yude, CEO of ESGTIMES; Boji Weng, Chairman of the Huaxia Aviation Industry Development Association; Deral Chen, Marketing Director of Blutech, and Xavier Lin,Senior Business Development Manager of Blutech, as honorary consultants to guide the development of the association’s affairs.
Pincheng Lai, who was unanimously supported to take on the heavy responsibility of the director, proposed specific goals such as “assisting companies understand the importance of carbon emissions,” “helping companies in conducting carbon footprint verification,” and “guiding companies towards a path of low carbon and intelligence.” He hoped that with the support of various sectors of industry, government, and academia, they could jointly contribute to the sustainable transformation of Taiwan’s industries.
