The “Carbon Net Zero Clean Energy and Sustainable Development Association,” initiated by 34 passionate partners committed to net-zero sustainability, held its first general meeting on April 13 at the Yuanlin Food and Culture Wedding Banquet Hall. The meeting was attended by representatives from various sectors, including Changhua County Vice Governor Lin Tianfu, Vice Secretary-General of the Changhua County Industry and Commerce Development Investment Promotion Association Chen Yingqing, and Chairman of the Huaxia Aviation Industry Development Association Weng Boji, who offered guidance and encouragement. During the meeting, the association successfully elected its leadership, with Lai Pincheng, the current head of the Sustainable Economy Group of the Changhua County Government Youth Advisory Committee and Vice President of the Yuanlin International Young Chamber of Commerce, elected as the first president.
“Laying the foundation for sustainable development on Earth is a global mission, and Taiwan’s sectors are actively responding, though many challenges and issues persist. With this in mind, we hope the establishment of our association can bring correct information and perspectives,” said Lai Pincheng. He emphasized that the founding members of the Carbon Net Zero Clean Energy and Sustainable Development Association come from diverse industries but are united by a shared commitment and strong will to act. Moving forward, the association will strive to promote carbon-neutral actions with a professional attitude, assisting businesses in achieving environmental sustainability and creating a better living environment for future generations.
Changhua County Vice Governor Lin Tianfu, who was present to witness this historic moment on behalf of County Mayor Wang Huimei, extended his blessings. Vice Governor Lin expressed his support for the Carbon Net Zero Clean Energy and Sustainable Development Association, which is based in Changhua and promoting sustainability initiatives. He also looked forward to the young members of the association actively taking over and carrying the responsibility, making tangible contributions to the sustainable development of Changhua and even Taiwan as a whole.
To achieve its goals, the Carbon Net Zero Clean Energy and Sustainable Development Association specially invited experts and leaders from various sectors to serve as honorary advisors, including Zhang Jianfeng, General Secretary of the Changhua County Farmers’ Association; Cai Shijie, Mayor of Erlin Township; Wang Baoling, Mayor of Fangyuan Township; Chen Yingqing, Vice Secretary-General of the Changhua County Industry and Commerce Development Investment Promotion Association; Huang Guobao, Sustainability Director of TUV NORD; Lin Yingjie, Senior Strategy Advisor for the United Nations Sustainable Development ESG; Lv Huangzhi, Consultant for the Offshore Wind Power Research and Development Center of Fengjia University; Lai Weiqi, Deputy Manager of the Precision Machinery Research and Development Center; Fei Yude, Executive Director of ESGTIMES; Weng Boji, Chairman of the Huaxia Aviation Industry Development Association; Chen Wenfeng, Director of Bosch Intelligent Co., Ltd.; Lin Ruiyi, Senior Development Manager; and Yang Wenqing, Secretary-General of the Changhua County Business Expansion Association. These experts and leaders from industry, government, and academia will provide guidance in the association’s development.
Lai Pincheng, who received unanimous support and took on the heavy responsibility of being the first president, outlined specific goals, including “helping businesses understand the importance of carbon emissions,” “assisting businesses in conducting carbon audits,” and “guiding businesses toward low-carbon and smart pathways.” He hopes that with the support of various sectors, including industry, government, and academia, the association can collectively contribute to the sustainable transformation of Taiwan’s industries.
